Locally know as
ba.ru in Santali language is a common tree in Similipal. The ba.ru trees grow as big as mango trees. It's tender leaves look maroonish red and slowly turns green at the stage of maturity.

The wood of the Ba.ru tree is not strong. so dried trees and branches are used only for firewood.

Ba.ru is an edible fruit. It tastes sweet at the same time soar also. The outer coating of the fruit looks green which turns brown when ripen.
