About Similipal

Similipal National Park is a home for many species of anilams and birds. Also its a home to few aboriginal tribes of India. The park is situated near Baripada, Mayurbhanj in the state of Odisha. In earlier days the park happened to be the favourite hunting destination for the kings of Mayurbhanj. The hunting towers inside the forest which stand as the mirror of its history.

The park has got its name from a tree called Simili (semal tree) for its abundance in the forest.
