| Palasha Flower (Locally known as Murud Baha) |
Palasha (Botanical name-Butea Monosperma)
The Palasha plant is widely spread in Similipal region. It easily grows as cattle and other domestic animals do not eat the leaves of the plant. In winter, i.e. September and October, leaves fall, it looks as if it is dead. In the month of March and April the plant bears flower. all the branches, thick and thin bear flowers. As these plants are seen everywhere, during flowering season, one could see flowers in the plant as well as under the tree spread in a thick layer. During its peak season it seems like the forest has caught fire.. and it is burning with a constant red flame...
